Transform Your Spooky Season Sampler Blocks into a Festive Table Runner

As Spooky Season 2024 draws to a close, I wanted to find a special way to enjoy the blocks I created, extending the festive spirit throughout the rest of the month. This is also a fantastic option for anyone who may have only made a few of the blocks or want to showcase a select few!

Materials Needed

  • 3 Spooky Season blocks (though, any 15” block will do!)
  • Additional background fabric (about 1/3 yard)
  • Backing fabric (1 1/4 yard)
  • Binding fabric (1/3 yard)

I used left over fabric for my backing and binding!

    Step 1: Choose Your Blocks

    Choose your favorite three blocks!

Step 2: Cut sashing and border strips

    • From the additional background fabric, cut (5) 2” x WOF strips
    • Using 2 of the WOF strips, sub cut into (4) 2” x 15.5” strips
    • Sew the remaining three strips end to end creating one very long strip, sub cut into (2) 2” x 51.5” strips

      Step 3: Designing the Layout

      • Decide if you want your blocks to run top to bottom (like mine) or side by side.
      • Lay out in desired order alternating with a sashing strip

Step 4: Assembling the Table Runner

        • Sew sashing strips and blocks together, and press towards sashing strips
        • Add border strips to each side, and press towards border strips

          Step 5: Basting and Quilting

          • Baste and quilt using preferred methods.
          • I quilted mine with 1/2” lines going horiztonally

            Step 6: Binding the Edges

            • From binding fabric, cut (4) 2.5” x WOF strips
            • Bind using preferred method.

That’s it! Enjoy Spooky Season a little bit longer with this fun table runner. It’s a charming addition that adds a festive touch to your décor, allowing you to savor the spooky vibes a little longer. Happy crafting!
